A Valentine's Day Wedding: Alberta & Cristiano - Exuma, Bahamas Destination Wedding

What could be more romantic than having a wedding on Valentine's Day?  The answer...having your wedding on Valentine's day in Great Exuma!

With picturesque backgrounds, cool breezes, and soft sand,  Great Exuma, Bahamas is an ideal place for a destination wedding. Our bride and groom, Alberta and Cristiano chose the island of Great Exuma to exchange their vows and celebrated their nuptials at several locations with the help of A Wedding Breeze.

The happy couple had their ceremony at the St. Theresa Catholic Church in George Town.  This small chapel is quite a historic building in the heart of George Town.

The couple also made several stops on the island to include Turquoise Cay Resort and Frangipani Italian Restaurant.

Kwanza is awesome! She's the owner and lead planner at A Wedding Breeze.  The work she is able to do is simply amazing and that's why she's known as The Exuma Destination Wedding Expert™.

We've had the opportunity to work with Kwanza on several weddings. Brides that want a little or a lot benefit for Kwanza's expertise when it comes to Destination weddings in the Bahamas.  Whether it's an intimate affair with just the bride and groom, or a wedding with a full bridal party and lots of guests, Kwanza can give the bride all that she's dreaming of.

Some of the most romantic weddings that Kwanza has planned were held on the private beach she co-owns with her husband KB. Henry Brother Kayak Expedition has made it to EXUMA!

After leaving the Turks & Caicos, the Henry Brothers have made it to the Exuma chain and we are so excited to be a stop on their way to Florida.

The Henry Brothers (Russell and Graham) are a kayaking duo from Victoria, BC that are on a mission to kayak from Belem, Brazil to Florida, USA.  This is quite a journey, but the brothers are using this opportunity to make stops at some exciting places along the way.

The Henry Brothers are being hosted in Exuma, by one of the newest boutique hotels on Great Exuma, Turquoise Cay.  This luxurious hotel is just what the brothers needed for a little rest and relaxation before continuing on their journey.

While in Exuma, the Henry Brothers made a point to give back to the local community by spending some of their down time with some of the local kids at Williams Town Primary School.  The kids were excited to hear about the past 6 months of the brother's journey.  Lots of questions were asked, which was expected. Because how often do you meet people that dare to travel the world in a kayak?

After the stop at Williams Town Primary School, the Henry Brothers were treated to a relaxing lunch at one of the most beautiful locations in Exuma, Santana's Bar & Grill! Santana's has great water views and some of the best native food on the island.  All you need is an ice cold kalik and it's pretty much perfection.

After spending a little time on Great Exuma, the Henry Brothers continued their journey through the Exuma chain with a stop at Farmers Cay to enjoy a little time at the Farmers Cay Regatta.  We wish the Henry Brothers all the best on their journey to Florida.  We hope they have great weather and smooth waters along the way.

Exuma's 1st Annual District Awards Ceremony : The Nelson A. Ranger Golf Camp and Scholarship Fund in Collaberation with the Bahamas Department of Education

There is no question that a good education is one of the cornerstone's in a child's development. But no matter how much education is talked about, and catchphrases like "Reading is Fundamental" or "School is Cool - Stay in School"; children want to know that adults are paying attention to their hard work.  Really all people at some point want to be recognized and acknowledged for their tenacity in life. This year, The Bahamas Department of Education chose to show the students of Exuma that they see the hard work that's being put forth by all ages. 

The 1st Annual District Awards Ceremony was held at the Sandals Resort Great Exuma.  This event was in honor of those students that achieved a G.P.A of 3.50 or higher.  Each student received a trophy for their accomplishments.

With such a positive event happening, I couldn't miss an opportunity to photograph this moment for these young achievers. I also knew this was an opportunity for me to give a little something to those that really excelled.  For the past two years, my charitable organization the Nelson A. Ranger Golf Camp & Scholarship Fund gives financial scholarships to deserving students that are heading to college to pursue their academic dreams. I absolutely feel this is a noble cause, because I think that learning is important as I try to learn something new every day myself.  But, the scholarships are given out every August, and I had been looking for other opportunities throughout the school year to further encourage students to excel.

With the help of my fantastic sponsors, like Exuma Markets LTD, Christian Joest, and Doeboi Enterprises, we were able to reward three high achieving students for their diligence and perseverance. The winners were selected from both government-run and private schools based on their overall G.P.A and additional academic achievements.  The winners were as follows:

1st Place - Rebecca Knowles, L.N. Coakley Senior High School

Rebecca received an iPad, an iPad cover, and a $50 gift certificate for school supplies.
